BCKPC - Project

Project Details

Downsville Central School District

BCK-IBI Group completed an addition and renovation project for the district, which included new classrooms, a library / media center, science rooms, a fitness center, improved circulation, and new entries, as well as reconfiguration of the existing gymnasium, locker rooms, classrooms, administration offices, health care center, and toilet rooms.  Significant historic restoration work occurred at each of the turrets on the building, which involved restoration of standing seam roofing, stone and brick restoration and the reconstruction of several existing weather vanes.

The project also included a new pre-engineered bus maintenance facility, with multi-level roof areas that reduce the building mass and reflect the imaging of local barns.  Local bluestone was utilized as a wainscoting along the perimeter of the facility, and school colors and logos were prominently displayed on the roof and building to show community pride.
