BCK-IBI Group worked with the Union-Endicott CSD to replace a field house that had been flooded several times. The $2.6 million facility was designed to meet FEMA's criteria of not building in the flood plain. The facility was built in a similar location as the existing due to site constraints, however was raised up approximately 17 feet so that it was out of the flood plain. Access to the field house was created by providing a walkway at the rear of the grandstand which opened onto a large deck area. Included in the field house were public toilet rooms, concession stand, team room, training room, coaches office, and additional storage space. The open structure of the building allowed for upper clerestory windows to provide natural light into the spaces.
